Description
BITCOIN PIZZA DAY 2022
Nobody knew what that transaction meant when it happened.
10,000 Bitcoin for two pizzas. Recorded on the chain. Irreversible. At the time it looked like a curiosity, maybe even a mistake. Years later it became the clearest proof that Bitcoin was never just a theory. Someone used it. Someone on the other side accepted it. Value moved without a bank, without permission, without a third party deciding whether the transaction was allowed to happen.
Laszlo Hanyecz did not make an error. He made history. The kind that only becomes visible once enough time has passed to see what it pointed toward. Every merchant who accepts Bitcoin today, every sat that moves across the Lightning Network, every person who opted out of the fiat system and chose something better — that line runs straight back to two pizzas and a man who believed enough to spend.
This piece was drawn hour by hour, between therapies. Not planned as a monument. Built as an act of imagination — what did it feel like to be Laszlo in that moment? To hand something over that the world did not yet understand, to someone willing to receive it? That feeling is what this artwork holds. Not the transaction. The courage inside it.
Part of a series that now spans 2022 and 2023, with more to come. Each year adds another frame to the same story. The pizza was just the beginning.
This piece carries its own Bitcoin wallet, loaded with 2,100 sats the moment it was minted. Check the chain yourself — the proof is built into the art, not issued alongside it.
This piece keeps stacking sats for you over time — the earlier you collect, the more it stacks in your favor. Early supporters are rewarded first.
